The University of Manitoba recognizes that much of life’s learning is done outside of the classroom and that experiencing the world enriches students’ education in incredible ways. In addition to traditional learning opportunities, the U of M provides numerous ways for students to explore our city, our province and the world.

Located in the heart of Canada, Manitoba is a great place to live, learn and explore. Living in this province, you’ll experience all four seasons and have the chance to enjoy the great outdoors.

Founded 140 years ago the University of Manitoba is the region’s largest research-intensive and only medical doctoral university, offering more than 100 programs, including graduate studies programs, to over 29,000 students every year. The university consists of the main Fort Garry campus, located in southern Winnipeg on the banks of the Red River, the downtown Bannatyne campus, adjacent to Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre, and other smaller satellite locations.

Over 17 percent of University of Manitoba students are international –– that’s approximately 5,000 students! –– representing over 100 countries and contributing to the cultural diversity of the U of M and Winnipeg. As such, the university offers support for international students who study on campus, including on campus residence options and the English Language Centre’s Homestay program. The International Centre provides support for students before and after arriving in Canada, and preparatory programs are available for students who do not meet English language proficiency requirements.

As a U of M student, you will be challenged to grow, inspired to create and dared to excel. Wherever life takes you after you graduate from our internationally-accredited programs, you will be able to apply what you have learned to make a real-life impact.
