Career Description

Security guards and other related workers guard property against theft and vandalism, control access to establishments, maintain order and enforce regulations at public events and within establishments.

Duties May Include

Their duties may require them to:

Issue passes to control access to facilities and direct visitors to appropriate areas;

Patrol assigned areas to guard against theft, shoplifting, vandalism, and fire;

Enforce regulations to maintain order at public events;

Operate security control room equipment to monitor activities;

Perform airport security checks of passengers/luggage;

Drive and guard armoured trucks and deliver cash/valuables to banks, automated teller machines, and retail organizations;

Ensure safety/emergency procedures are followed in response to fire alarms, bomb threats, and other emergencies.
