In general, you usually need a bachelor's degree or college diploma in a social science or a related field or in business administration. You may also need a master's degree in a social science or a related field or in business administration. To be a home economist, you need a bachelor's degree in home economics, human ecology, nutrition and food sciences or family / consumer studies. A registered Home Economist designation is available, but not mandatory, in some provinces / territories. Most recent entrants have an undergraduate university degree or a master's degree.
