Degree:Bachelor
Field of Study:Acting
Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts, General
Description:Theatre is not just about acting. It is a collaboration that relies on the talents of designers, lighting and sound technicians, carpenters, painters, media and box office administrators. The more things you can do with knowledge and flair, the more useful you will be to the theatre, to yourself and to your community. Acadia’s Theatre program gives you a strong grounding in theatre, as well as professional preparation from faculty members. There are two main streams of study within the program – performance and production. The performance stream offers you a solid foundation in acting, movement, voice, theatre history, and dramatic literature, and includes the opportunity to perform or to work backstage in the productions of the Acadia Theatre Company. The production stream is a multi-disciplinary program that allows you to focus your studies on the backstage elements of theatre instead of on performance.
