The University of Prince Edward Island has established a Faculty of Medicine to house a regional campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland's Faculty of Medicine. The UPEI site will operate as a regional campus of Memorial until a future joint degree is eventually established.

This university-to-university partnership brings together the strengths of both institutions--rural and family medicine, nursing, clinical psychology, paramedicine, veterinary medicine, climate change and adaptation, and sustainable design engineering. A UPEI-based campus will increase training opportunities for future family doctors and general specialists and support the medical career aspirations of Island youth.
