The Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College is an English-speaking theological institution which exists for the preparing, equipping, and training of people for Christian gospel ministries, with emphasis on pastoral training in the Calvinistic Baptist tradition, and to provide such people with relevant and meaningful teaching in order to minister effectively and competently in this present secular age.
Since 1927 hundreds of graduates of The Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College have entered Christian service. Our alumni serve the Lord across Canada with churches of the Sovereign Grace Fellowship, the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada, various Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Ethiopian and Hispanic churches in Canada, other Baptist churches across Canada and the USA, and throughout the world in more than thirty countries.
We provide sound theological education for those who sense God's call upon their lives to serve in Canada or abroad. We have a strong, vital commitment to the local church.
The Seminary owns and operates residences, and provides accommodation at reasonable rates for single and married students. Priority for accommodation is given to full-time students. Students are required to bring their own sheets, pillowcases and towels (overseas students excepted). Space in residence is limited so students are advised to bring a minimum of possessions. Living in residence is optional. A booklet entitled "Life on Campus" contains full details.
Students can make their own arrangements through churches in the area whose members have rooms or apartments to rent.
The TBS Student Centre is situated in the basement of the Seminary building. Regularly, students meet there to pray or hang out in the lounge area. The facility includes mailboxes, a computer area with internet and printer, as well as a small fitness room where students meet mostly to play table tennis.
The students have their own student council, elect officers, and regulate their own activities under faculty guidance.
Our library has computer facilities and access to the Internet is provided. The library computers provide an internet link to UTCat, the University of Toronto library database. This gives access to a catalogue of over 7,000,000 books, most of which are shelved within walking distance of the Seminary.
The College has days of prayer each semester, which provide an opportunity for students and faculty to seek God’s face and favour.
We have involvement with a missionary in Istanbul. Three to seven students may study there for two months (usually mid January through mid March) each year. Additional fees are required for this unique opportunity.
Contact the College at (416) 925-3263 or on our Web site. We would be happy to meet with you.
Since parking facilities are very limited, residence students are encouraged not to bring a car, or to store it elsewhere after they arrive, unless needed for regular commitments. Permission must be obtained for parking privileges and a copy of the keys left with the office. Parking of students' cars in the parking lot is not permitted on Sundays.
