Incoming Students

Whether you are a new student arriving to campus for the first time, getting ready to graduate or anything in between, Student Central provides you with a more convenient way to conduct your business and access support in one, central location. Here you will be able to access everything you need, from enrolling at Lakehead through to course registration, financial support, academic advising and so much more. Our dedicated, cross-trained Student Central Professionals are able to solve issues from start to finish with improved consistency of service and answers. This holistic approach allows us to focus on you!

Career Planning

The Student Success Centre has many programs and support services in place to help you achieve your academic and personal goals while studying at Lakehead University. We provide academic support through tutoring services, career exploration, co-operative opportunities and leadership development. Book an appointment with us for help with first year transition, time management, reading and note taking, study skills, exam preparation, resume and cover letter, job searching, networking and much more. Join our events throughout the year to connect with your academic community!

Sports

Show your blue and gold spirit by attending a Varsity game and cheering on our Thunderwolves! You will have a blast discovering what it means to be part of the pack and experiencing the thrill of supporting your local hockey players or rooting for the soccer team! You don't have to play to have fun: become a Thunderwolves fan!

Campus Recreation offers you the opportunity to stay fit and active, and meet new people in a supportive and fun environment, Both Orillia and Thunder Bay campuses offer a variety of intramural sports leagues, where you can sign up to play one of your favourite sports, or try out something new!

    Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) is run for students, by students. Become part of the team that ensures students can pursue academic excellence as well as personal and social growth at Lakehead, free from barriers. You can also get involved in one of the LUSU Centres, such as the Gender Equity Centre, Multicultural Centre, Pride Central, or the Food Bank. Opportunities to represent the student body on the University's academic governance body, the Senate, and various Senate committees are also great ways to share the student voice and be involved.

    Further explore your field of study by getting involved with your Academic Association or Society. Join students studying in your program to get involved in volunteerism, networking, and camaraderie.

    International Involvement

    Many programs offer international educational opportunities as a core, or optional, component of the curriculum. International field trips to Iceland for Environmental Management students, Anthropological digs in Tanzania, or Outdoor Recreation expeditions to the Antarctic are some examples of what is possible.

    Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides support and services for students with temporary and/or permanent disabilities/medical conditions through approved academic accommodations.
