For 50 years TRU has taken pride in providing an excellent education to every student that comes to us — from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives, at various stages of the learning journey. Nearly 26,000 students study on our campuses in Kamloops and Williams Lake, or in distance or online courses and programs through Open Learning.

From traditional academics to trades, from certificates to graduate degrees, TRU offers over 140 on-campus programs and 60 Open Learning programs to choose from. Our students apply what they learn in co-op work terms, study abroad, undergraduate research, field schools and practicums, service learning and other opportunities — with guidance and mentorship by our accessible faculty. Research, creation and innovation thrive in our open, flexible learning environment. And so do our students.

TRU offers an outstanding range of programs, from trades to traditional academics, certificates to bachelor and graduate degrees. Our faculties and schools provide academic and professional career paths, interdisciplinary options, and opportunities like co-op and undergraduate research to enrich learning. Our beautiful Kamloops campus offers a one-of-a-kind university community in the heart of the city, a place to live, work, learn and play. Living on campus means being minutes away from your classes, enjoying easy access to campus and nearby city recreational facilities and belonging to an active community of students from across Canada and around the world. First year university students should connect with an academic advisor prior to registration. Advisors are available by e-mail and telephone, as well as in person. During first year, students should attend one or more group advising information sessions for specific degree programs. Full details on campus facilities and services are available on the TRU Campus Services page.

Students can attend free workshops on career planning offered by counselling services. Career Services also offers various services related to career planning such as assistance with resume and cover letter development, interview and presentation skills, portfolio development, and access to daily job postings online.

Compete against top-level athletes from across Canada while studying at a university dedicated to academic excellence.

We offer an intercollegiate program that gives you a chance to compete against athletes from other Canadian post-secondary institutions.

Our campus offers easy access to world-class skiing, mountain biking, hiking and water sports.

WolfPack basketball and volleyball teams play in the state-of-the-art Tournament Capital Centre, with a seating capacity of 2,200. Soccer teams play at Hillside Stadium, an artificial turf field with seating for 1,060 people. All athletes can use TCC workout rooms, indoor track and swimming pool.

TRU competes in the Canada West conference in men's and women's basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country and swimming. The WolfPack have a baseball team and competitive cheerleading.

If you want to try out for a team, contact the coach for that sport. To be eligible, you must be registered in a at least nine credits per semester or equivalent.

Throughout the year, TRU Recreation organizes and implements a variety of special events, Intramural sports, and fitness classes for the university community. Many activities are free, while others require a minimal fee. It is our mission to strengthen the bonds that make us a tight-knit university community, so grab your friends, roommates, instructors, even the random person sitting next to you in class, and get in the game!

TRUSU Clubs enhance the quality of campus life and contribute positively to the educational experience for students at Thompson Rivers University. Clubs are a great way to get involved, meet, and get to know other students.

Clubs are organized around a common discipline of study, an interest, a hobby, a culture, religion, or a political belief.

The IT Service Desk is your first point of contact to report or ask questions related to TRU technology. The Service Desk team provides customer-focused service with a goal of first call resolution regardless of the method of contact; phone, email or in-person. Our IT Services website offers support information related to campus computer accounts, email, computer labs/classrooms, printing, wireless, Blackboard and Moodle, training and tutorial guides, software available for TRU students and employees, and more.

Computer lab support staff are available to serve the needs of students, faculty, and staff by providing computer lab information, assistance and technical support for computer equipment and software utilized in the labs and classrooms on campus.

TRU provides a plethora of learning supports in Accessibility Services, Student Success Courses, Supplemental Learning, Writing Centre, Math Help Centre, and School of Business & Economics Help Centre. PACE: The Pack Academic Edge sets out to give student athletes the opportunity to connect with one another. There are also Library Services and Study Spaces available. Last but not least, we also have an Assessment Centre, Counselling Department and Cariboo Child Care on campus.

The clinic is available to all registered students, staff and faculty of TRU.

We provide a full range of medical services, provides vaccinations as required by various programs and organizes annual flu clinics in conjunction with other departments and community organizations.

Three physicians fill the full-time position on a rotating basis. Clinic staff also includes a medical office assistant.
