At The University of Winnipeg, we are committed to excellence in academic programming, research, teaching, and services for students. This means that we keep our classes small, our professors involved, and our students engaged in exciting research. Before you finish your university studies, you’ll have opportunities to make contacts and gain experience in your field. We offer undergraduate degrees in the Arts, Science, Business and Economics, and Education with over 400 courses in 40 subject areas.

Students may obtain three year, four year, or Honours Bachelor of Arts and Science degrees, a five year integrated B.A./B.Sc. Education degree, or a two year after degree in Education. In addition, the University offers pre-professional programs (from one to three years), which prepare students for admission to professional schools in 16 areas including Law and Medicine.

Popular majors include a unique program in Biopsychology, a Theatre and Film program, a French Studies program, applied studies programs in Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental Sciences, and joint programs in Business and Administration, Communications, and Child Development and Child Care, which blend academic theory and practical experience.

Many degree programs such as Applied Computer Science, and Kinesiology and Applied Health combine a challenging practical curriculum with applied work experience. Since the University believes learning and doing are intertwined, a high level of undergraduate participation in research is promoted. The University of Winnipeg's acclaimed Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications Department aims to enhance the writing ability of students to prepare them for academic demands and their future careers.

The University of Winnipeg provides a select number of programs at the graduate level. These include joint master's programs with the University of Manitoba in History, Religious Studies, and Public Administration. Our Faculty of Theology offers Master of Arts, Master of Divinity, Master of Marriage and Family Therapy, and Master of Sacred Theology programs.

McFeetors Hall is our newest building, having been completed in August 2009. It is a LEED Silver certified building with generous natural lighting and an energy-efficient design. McFeetors Hall offers new, modern dorm-style units as well as the unique option of family housing for those pursuing a University education and raising a family. All students living at McFeetors Hall have access to common entertainment/ lounge areas, study areas and laundry facilities. Each room in the building offers an air-conditioned environment, ample natural light, and a personal-size refrigerator. Available room options include single and double furnished dorms, and a limited number of family oriented unfurnished 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments. McFeetors Hall offers you the full campus living experience. Unfurnished apartments start at $589 per month or $2356 per 4-month term. The University of Winnipeg has renovated a selection of neighborhood character homes for student living. With richly decorated common areas and back decks for barbeques, the houses appeal to people who enjoy a family-like environment. Each house has between four and eleven single, furnished rooms with tasteful amenities. Shared kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities are available on-site. Pricing for Balmoral House Rooms starts at $1640 per term, or $420 per month.

Off Campus Housing

1. Apartments There are ample and affordable accommodations nearby. Price range: rooms $200.00 to $300.00 per month; room and board $300.00 to $350.00 per month; 1 bedroom $400.00 per month plus deposit; 2 bedroom $500.00 to $600.00 per month plus deposit; and 3 bedroom $600.00 to $700.00 per month plus deposit. The University of Winnipeg Students' Association provides a free housing registry service to help students find accommodations and the housing registrar can mail or fax the results of an accommodation search. Sports

The University of Winnipeg's athletic facility, The Duckworth Centre, houses a 167 metre banked jogging track, four gyms, a sauna, a weight training room, aerobics classes, intramurals, racquetball and squash courts, an athletic therapy centre, and is expanding to include a 6,000 square foot fitness centre equipped with state of the art weight training and cardio equipment. The University of Winnipeg students enjoy a broad range of outdoor recreational activities from ice skating and cross country skiing to swimming, boating, and golfing in Winnipeg's many parks and recreational facilities.

Activities

The Art Gallery 1C03, located on the first floor of Centennial Hall at The University of Winnipeg, is a not for profit, public art gallery. There is also a student run community Jazz band, Downtown Jazz Band. Campus clubs and associations cover a wide spectrum of interests, from photography to tae kwon do. The University of Winnipeg is home to Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, one of Winnipeg's finest recital halls.

Clubs

Every student at The University of Winnipeg is a member of The University of Winnipeg Students’ Association (UWSA). The people in charge of the association are elected by the student body. The UWSA provides services to students such as the Info Booth, The Uniter (the student newspaper), and CKUW (the student radio station). Campus clubs and associations cover a wide spectrum of interests from a knitting group (Scarf Ace Knit Club) to a Best Buddies, where college and university students are matching with an adult with an intellectual disability. Information Technology

We offer a wireless campus and have several computer labs on campus. There is also the Learning Edge Laptop program, which allows students to purchase or finance laptops, and a computer sales and repair centre on campus.

International Involvement

Formal student exchange agreements are in place with Aarhus University (Denmark), Bamberg University (Germany), Glasgow Caledonian University (Scotland), Hannan University (Japan), and Charles University (Czech Republic). Students majoring in French studies may spend one year studying at Perpignan University (France).
